MADELEINES WINE LIST

All of Madeleines wines are personally selected by Executive Chef, Claud Beltran, and Cellar Master (that's American for "Sommelier"), Leslie Hemphill.

Madeleines Wine List presents a carefully balanced selection of "Old World" versus "New World" wines.

The wine selection is grouped into whites and reds in descending order depending on a wine's fruitiness, aroma, intensity of color and depth of taste.

Examples of some of the white wines included are Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Viognier, Chardonnay, Malvasia Blanco, Grenache Blanc, White Burgundy, Pouilly Fume, Muscadet, Riesling and Gervurztraminer.  Of course, not to be excluded from this group are some wonderful Champagnes and Sparkling Wines.

Examples of some of the red varietals are Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Meritage, Chateauneuf du Pape, Syrah, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Burgundy , Gamay Beaujolais, Bordeaux, Cabernet Franc, Chianti, Barolo, Tempranillo, Sherry and Port.

The "Old World" wines featured at Madeleines include wines from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Austria or Germany.  The "New World" wines are predominantly from California's Napa and Sonoma Districts and the Central Coast (Paso Robles and Santa Barbara) wineries.  Madeleines also regularly features wonderful wines from Oregon and Washington State and to a lesser extent Australian and South America, primarily Chilean wine.

Price is a very important factor in choosing wines that are to be included in Madeleines Wine List.  Chef Claud and Leslie are always searching for the best value when selecting wines.  Sometimes, really excellent wines can be very moderately priced and they are always on the lookout for those wines.  This allows us to offer our customers premium wines that are well priced and a real value.  Madeleines offers a large selection of moderately priced wines as well as a selection of premium wines to complete its Wine List.

Wine at Madeleines is sold by the glass, flight, or bottle.

"One not only drinks wine, one smells it, observes it, tastes it, sips it, and--one talks about it."
